PLANNING | Initial Album Cover
I have designed my album cover in this way and chose to keep it simple in order for it to be more effective. The only image is a girl with a bruised face; this keeps the focus on her and the overall theme of domestic violence. I have used capital letters for the name 'JORDYN' to emphasise her importance despite being a victim of DV, and used all lowercase letters for the album title to portray the idea of feeling lost and being vulnerable.
This was my first draft of a front cover using a stock image from the internet, however, I feel that it went well with the theme of my music video. I plan to use elements of this front cover such as the font for the title and will use the image of the girl as inspiration for when I do my own photoshoot for the album cover. I found the use of makeup to represent bruises significant because I have an interest in hair and makeup meaning I could do something similar. Instead of using makeup as a 'beauty' enhancer, I will use it to strip back the artist and show explicitly the effects of DV and convey the idea that it can be covered up, similarly to how domestic violence is hidden away in society and not spoken about as much as it should be.
