RESEARCH | Market Analysis Survey
My research has shown that Rap genre is the most popular amongst my audience, followed by R&B and then Pop. A lot of my initial research included rap songs, such as 'Lesley' by Dave and 'Promise' by Rapman. The responses that I've got from my survey confirm that an urban genre will be the most successful in conveying the message about Domestic Violence that I aim to.
This chart shows the results that I was expecting; Black Lives Matter was the most talked about/heard of as this has been in the news most recently. However these results show that by producing a music video showing signs and different scenarios of DV, hopefully I can make people more aware.
Majority of people who answered my survey fit into the 16-18 age category. This is helpful to know as I also fit into this category and made me aware that maybe not everyone knows as much about Domestic Violence and abusive relationships as others and it just depends on experience.
The fact that 97.2% of those who answered my survey have an iPhone and the rest android (still smartphone), shows that my audience are critically aware of current trends and fit the brief of 'upmarket'.
From this information, I can see that majority voted for Daily Mail, a mostly right wing newspaper. Interestingly, and especially over lockdown, the Daily Mail have published various posts about DV and 'When staying home ISN'T safe".
Overall, this market research has allowed me to see how socially aware my audience are, and also allowed me to find out what other peoples views on the conventions of a domestic violence advert/music video.
