Janelle Monae - I Like That

I can use this as influence for my own music video, as I plan to use a bath filled with milky white water to represent purity and beauty, which i feel does in the music video for Janelle Monae's I Like That.

H.E.R - Could've Been ft. Usher

I liked the split screens style, something I could use in my own video. During the scene when the couple is arguing, I could have the clip of them on either side, and a clip of the artist singing in the middle. I also liked the use of black and white, and I could use it to represent the past, for example, the arguments are in the past, however the audience will not know this until the end when the girl is shown to be by herself and happy.

From the same video, I found this clip significant due to the space between the two actors and felt I could conduct something similar in my own to show the breakdown of the relationship. The room is dark with dim lighting which I thought looked effective; if I was to do something like this in my own video, i would use candles at the kitchen table to ensure I have some lighting, but the room is still dark. I would need to film this scene at nighttime.
